Sound West Announced: A music and technology festival in Western Sydney

Sound West has officially been announced! It’s the first major music and technology festival in Western Sydney. Supported by government and enterprises such as Destination NSW and City of Parramatta, the festival will take place across the city of Parramatta over five days from Wednesday 30th March to Sunday 3rd April 2022. Two days will be dedicated to a conference followed by three days of live music at Commbank Stadium.

Announcing the first of its kind at Commbank Stadium Hon. Stuart Laurence Ayres shares his confidence “We’re not shying away from anyone, we’re saying Western Sydney is the place to be, Western Sydney is going to lead this state and this country out of the pandemic”. Not only will the festival benefit the tourism, music and technology industry but also the community.

ARIA nominated south west rapper L-FRESH the Lion believes that Western Sydney is finally getting the recognition it deserves. “I see Sound West as a great opportunity, when it comes to music Western Sydney has no shortage of talent. It’s a platform and opportunity we’ve been deserving of, for a long time. I hope it can capitalise and give the local talent that we have here a platform and display that for the rest of the country” he says.
“It’s been a long journey of shared conversations to be able to have that exchange, not just for me but for other artists in Western Sydney. This exchange is always important. You gotta involve the community. I’ve always relished the opportunity when people want to do something in a place where I’m from, want to learn, engage and do things that are beneficial to the community”.
What’s expected is live performances from local talent, keynote speakers, panel talks and workshops from the music and technology industry. Providing the opportunity for aspiring and established professionals to further their skills and development. Further details will be released early next year. We’re excited to see how this event turns out!
Sound West have also opened an expression of interest for producers and promoters to host live music events for the festival.
