EYES ON ME [ANTNY REVIEW]

Western Sydney trapsoul connoisseur ANTNY (@antnyofficial) is back with another banger, Eyes on Me. With featured vocals from Ash Swaze (@ash_swaze), the masterclass in reverb is produced entirely by Joseph Italiano (@joseph.italiano_). The single is a vibrant addition to ANTNY’s growing discography of moody trap cuts, and comes courtesy of his reliable release schedule.

Eyes on Me is comfortably one of ANTNY’s most clinical singles. Washed-out samples swim around razor-sharp vocal performances from both himself and Swaze, making the track feel like a celebratory middle-finger to critics and doubters alike. Featuring ANTNY’s signature pristine engineering, Eyes on Me is an energetic cut with meticulous production value.

Swaze is a welcome addition to the track, providing some tonal contrast towards the song's halfway point. Echoing the lyrical sentiments of the hook, the featured artist picks right up the second verse with ease. Eyes on Me marks the first collaboration between Swaze and ANTNY, and if this track is anything to go by, we hope to see more output from the duo. It’s also worth pointing out that Swaze says the title of the track, which is always helpful when the lead artist forgets to (good pickup mate).

Few artists in the scene have such a firm grasp on all aspects of a track’s release, with engineering and distribution all performed independently by ANTNY. He’s a true renaissance man (no, not just because he lives near the Westella) and a force to be reckoned with in Sydney’s thriving music scene. Backed by fBI Radio’s The Snacc Pacc and dynmk, expect more from ANTNY before the end of 2021. With a bit of luck we may even see his full face on the cover of his next single.
