MORE THAN JUST A BARBERSHOP
The Stonecutters hosted their first official market on the 28th of July. Kevin Guanzon, the founder of this initiative, spoke highly of community and creativity. He dreamt of a space where people can come together and create - and now the dream has become a reality.
“Stonecutters is transitioning into a space open to creative expression. Its evolved into a community where like minded people can use their talents to contribute to something beyond themselves.” says Area Manager Jeaneline Alba.
The Markets featured sixteen retail stores and four food stalls. The atmosphere was positive and electric, and you could feel it when you were among the stalls - a sense of community and a sense of home. The Western felt we belonged. We felt like we were part of something greater, something that comes natural in the West.
“Stonecutters was founded on community, support, and people believing in our vision. It is from this foundation that we hope to provide a platform for all the great talent flourishing in our backyard.” continues Jeaneline.
With the amount of backlash, negative connotations, and stigma the West endures, locals like Kevin and his team continue to push for change.
We’re excited to see what's to come in the near future, and as the community continues to connect, grow, and work together, the stronger and more united we’ll be.
