There’s an exciting and electric shift happening in Western Sydney. Can you feel it too? A lot has gone down this past week - the GWS Giants made it to the Grand Finals, OneFour kicked off a set in Brisbane, and then right here in Parramatta, magic happened.

The Area Movement hosted Welcome To The Area, one of the first ever multi-gig concert of its kind. With a line up dominated by Western Sydney artists, the event aimed to showcase local artists such as Hooligan Hefs, Rops1, Spacely, Elijah Yo and Jaecy.

The Western saw it all first hand, and we feel nothing but upset for those who missed out on this epic piece of art and creative - one so proud and loving of its Western Sydney roots.

Each artist brought their whole crews to the stage, and even after all synchronised jumping and stomps of adoration, we were surprised the stage was still intact.

Hooligan Hefs premiered his latest project at Welcome To The Area - a track to ‘tell ‘em I’m doing eetswa’. This set the crowd off, even after wearing their voices out to ‘No Effect’.

The duo behind The Area Movement are just two of many great local minds and entrepreneurs tapping in on the avalanche of talent that has grown and culminated in Western Sydney. The West connects us, and this manifests in our music and our art. Events like Welcome To The Area rely on one of Western Sydney’s greatest assets - it’s diversity. We all have different stories and lived experiences, and we’re at a point now where we can put all of ourselves into our crafts. We hope to see more events like this, and we can’t wait for more incredible projects from The Area Movement.
